Britney & Rihanna - S&M

Let me start off by saying that I am a huge Britney fan. I think she speaks for a generation and is more of a "Modern day Madonna" than Lady Gaga will ever be. That being said, when I heard about this collaboration of S&M with Rihanna, I really didn't know what to expect. I am not a fan of Rihanna's music, almost at all.. but regardless, I had a listen to the song and can't say I was impressed. Heres the collaboration:

In general, I found the original version of the song boring, repetitive, and lacking. I'm tired of Rihanna over playing that shes a bad girl. Honestly, am I the only person who feels like she already beat that horse to death with her last 2 albums? Anyways, if you haven't already gathered, I didnt like the first version of S&M. So then I listened to the second version featuring an additional verse by Britney Spears. Again, not impressed. I like hearing remixes of songs because they usually present a different perspective on something familiar.. but this one really did nothing for me. The song was basically kept completely intact, and a Britney Spears verse was dropped right in the middle of the song. I'll be the first to admit that Britney Spears vocals aren't stellar, but I don't think thats why she is appealing to me. Getting back on track, remixes are supposed to present something old in a new light, and this "remix" didn't even come close to doing that. The only thing I enjoyed about this remix was that it was shorter than the original, and featured less vocals by Rihanna. But really.. Whats the point in remixing a song and keeping it almost exactly the same? Oh.. right.. There really isn't a point. Bloops.

In situations like these, I don't know whats worse - Creating another whiny vocal filled, "I'm such a bad girl", boring pop song by Rihanna.. Or having to hear it on the radio for another 6 extra months because it was remixed with Britney. Thank goodness for Toronto's Boom 97.3 I may never have to hear this steamy pile ever again. Gotta love the 80s.

New hair time

This post was supposed to be out yesterday, except that my iPhone decided not to post it for some reason. Ah well, here it is

My hair has been grown out for about 6 months now and I think it's time for a new style and color. What I've been wanting lately is a lighter red or Ginger/copper color, and a more defined fringe.
Here's some pictures I'm thinking of for the color, the style I'm still pretty unsure about still so I'll leave that out for now.

photos from google
The first picture has a nice fringe also, but anyways.. I like how light it is. Hopefully it suits me!

Lady Gaga in Jeans?

What a bizarre sight. Sometimes you forget that celebrities like Lady Gaga are actually real people, and wear jeans and yoga pants like the rest of us. Sweet boots, but I cant say im a fan of mom jeans.. despite my love for Mother Monster.

Seriously...FML

So last night was eventful in the sense that I found out my computer is broken. Awesome. So guess what im doing today? Laptop shopping! Yayyyyy....

Well, this WOULD totally deserve a long, drawn-out "Yayyyyyy" except that im totally broke. Yep. My bank account has about three dollars in it, and the only thing in my pocket is my phone and a hard candy mint that I got for free from the bank the other day (you know, checking my balance.. letting it sink in that I am broke as fuck).

Anyways, to make the best of the situation I have brought my camera to work today and plan on actually figuring out how it works a bit better. Hopefully I can mask my frustration by getting some good pictures of Toronto while I am miserably window shopping for a new laptop. Yes yes, my plan is awesome, and it will probably turn into quite the awesome adventure.. because everything is AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!

ps. I am planning a cupcake tour of Toronto based on a post I found from blogTO. I will go to these places, and eat cupcakes, take pictures and be merry.. and blog about it.. of course! ;)

Hexa by Kuho

I came across these shoes in V Magazine - V70, and let me just say that I absolutely love them. I love shoes, they are probably my favourite piece of clothing, and these babies are any shoe junkies dream. They are quite round in shape, but at the same time have an architectural feel due to the sharp lines and straps. I like the way the heel extends out backwards and the support under the toe is missing, its an interesting spin on a relatively classic wedge heel. Ive seen this type of rounded wedge heel pretty often this spring, which is great because I love them.
Have a look..

Excited little me

Yesterday I bought a camera! Finally!
I havent had much time to play with my new camera yet, but heres a couple pictures from me messing around with the camera at the piano. Kinda cool.. in a strange sorta way

On an equally exciting side note, Jeffrey Campbell. I currently have a love/hate relationship with Jeffrey Campbell shoes. Just as I am trying to choose which color Lita to order, having almost made a decision, I receive an email from solestruck.com regarding new styles from none other than Jeffrey Campbell. How wonderfully frustrating. Which brings me to my current dilema - Lita vs Lana. Typically I could write an entire blog post on each one of these shoes (and perhaps I will), they are really nothing short of astonishing.
So, back on track.. Lita vs Lana. Lets take a look:

Jeffrey Campbell "Lita" - Grey Distressed Leather

These booties are probably my favourite piece of footwear out right now. Im not kidding, they are that sweet. Ive been looking for chunky platforms for a while, and these boots have every feature I was looking for.  They are quite versatile, being an ankle boot, and with the grey color they wont be too over powering for spring or summertime. Since it is cold until about May/June in Toronto, I wanted to get a closed toe boot or shoe that could still be worn in spring and summer, and with these I feel as though I can wear them in colder weather with leggings and a skirt or dress, as well as in spring or summer when it warms up.

Jeffrey Campbell "Lana" - Beige Fabric

The thing I love about the Lana is the curved heel. Which is almost polar opposite to the reason that I adore the Lita. I feel that the Lana is over the top, yet understated at the same time (as under stated as you can be in a 5" heel.. perhaps). Where the Lita looks quite tough and military, the Lana has a much softer look. The open heel and softer shape to the toe gives it a more feminine and slightly whimsical look than the Lita, which would make it perfect for very feminine, more flowing dresses or skirts in the spring/summer time. These shoes seem like they would be a dream to wear with a flowery print maxi or layered neutrals, where the Lita and its edgier look would be perfect for oversized tshirts, skinny jeans, black tulle dresses and an overall 70s rock-n-roll appeal.
I am a sucker for shoes, especially Jeffrey Campbell shoes. With these two styles available right now, and me needing a cool spring shoe - it looks like ill have a really tough decision to make!

wordpress vs blogspot

One of my issues currently is whether to stick with this blog on blogspot, or whether to move over to wordpress and blog from there. Ive heard good things about both, but i seem to know alot more people personally using wordpress than blogspot. This is also somewhat bizarre, because most blogs that I come across or read are usually blogspot blogs.

Decisions, decisions.. Maybe ill run both for a while with identical content? Or would that be completely ridiculous..

Well - for now, my blog is located here on blogspot as well as here on wordpress! Lets see which gets more traffic, then ill decide which to keep using.

Happy Monday

Normally I dislike Mondays, but today has so far consisted of catching up on much needed sleep, and browsing the internets. I cant complain.

In attempts to organize my life, I have decided that I will dedicate Mondays to planning out what I want to accomplish during the week to come. So here are 10 things that I would love to accomplish this week:

1. Go jogging at least 4 times this week
2. Apply for a new job, hopefully something to do with clothing, or waitressing
3. Do not eat any junk food
4. Be smarter about what I buy, Only buy things I need as opposed to things I probably wont use
5. Blog everyday
6. Buy a DSLR camera - I get paid on thursday, lets get the ball rolling
7. Make 1 wearable garment that I am proud of and enjoy wearing
8. Draw more - 10 finished croquis drawings
9. 100 sit ups and 50 push ups every day
10. Dont let people ruin my week, just have a good time no matter what

I think this is very achievable and practical. Time to get started!

Still working on getting a camera to take pictures with. I tracked one down on kijiji, but still have to actually buy it. Being broke stinks! This week im going to be applying for jobs basically everywhere. Wish me luck!

On a side note - I came across these Chloe glasses on svpply..
They are gorgeous, and I wish I had them.

and so it begins..

I have been very bored lately with pretty much everything. Ive gotten to a point where I am genuinely tired of most things in my life and seriously am ready for a change. Ive decided to use this blog as a creative outlet to help the process of changing the things in my life that I dont like, and focusing on the things that I do like. Basically, I plan on posting here every day about fashion, shoes, photos, and things that I just find enjoyable.

To start things off, I am currently looking to purchase a DSLR camera and start taking pictures. I have always been quite fond of photography and since I have so much free time right now, I think I can use some of it to really learn my way around a camera and start taking some photos that I am proud of.

Secondly, I have tossed about 80% of the junk cluttering up my room in the trash, and am moving rooms to the bigger one across the hall that currently houses the mounds of my brothers art supplies. I look forward to decorating it, and getting furniture, art, and other things that dont look like they belong in a 10 year olds room.

And finally, I am actually organizing things in my life, which is something I havent ever kept up with. I am keeping a book, and now a blog, to record things that I enjoy, things that I want to do or experience, and projects that I want to make happen. And I am going to stick to them for once!

Call it a sort of life spring cleaning..
